Today on the Cognitive Dissidents Podcast, we discuss “belief Persistence”.  The idea that each of us even when confronted with contradictory evidence continue to hold our current beliefs making a real changing of the mind difficult.

  1. I’m looking forward to your future pod-casts on “explaining the other side” of things.

    I also love the quotes you pulled from GC at the end. Elder Anderson’s: “Give brother Joseph a break…” TBM folks stuck in belief persistence do this at all costs. Its frightening to realize that maybe there were things you didn’t know before that force a faith development cycle.

    Those are difficult. Had one of my own there….

  2. Well, perhaps a tool like this can help:

    It’s a chrome extension that tracks if you read left or right leaning internet sources. Mostly focused on political issues.

    However it is interesting that we should play the devil’s advocate to understand other people position better.
